What this platform is (and is NOT)
- Apoyando a Venezuela is a non-profit initiative that verifies and connects people who need help with people who want to help.
- We do NOT receive, manage, hold or transfer money. The contribution goes directly from the donor to the beneficiary, outside the platform. We charge no fees.
- We are not a bank, a financial institution, or a fundraising entity.
- We verify each case with the utmost care (endorsements, calls, video calls and document review), but we do not guarantee any case 100%. Each donor gives at their own discretion and responsibility.
- We are not responsible for how each person uses the funds they receive directly.
Personal data & privacy
In order to verify that a case is real, we collect and store data such as: name, ID number, address, phone, ID photos and supporting documents, and payment details.
Who sees what:
- The administrator and authorized volunteer verifiers may view IDs and documents only to confirm that the case is real.
- Verifiers are bound by confidentiality: they may not copy, share, publish or use that data for any other purpose.
- Verification evidence (photos and videos: video calls, ID in hand, medical documents) is internal. Only the team reviews it to approve the case and it is NEVER published.
- The ID numbers of endorsers are not shown to the public; only their confirmation.
- A case's payment details are only visible to registered users.
The only public parts of a case are: the title, the story the person writes, their state/city and —only for registered users— the donation details. Their identity documents and verification evidence are private.
Consent: by posting a case, the person authorizes the team to verify their identity (calls, video calls, documents) and understands that their story and payment details will be shown so they can receive help. Their identity documents are not published.
We use the data solely to verify and connect. We do not sell it, hand it to third parties, or use it commercially. This exists with a single purpose: to help. You may ask us to delete your data or your case at any time: from your account (My account) with the "Request deletion" button, or by writing to us.
Donations
The donor sends their contribution directly to the beneficiary's payment details. Uploading proof is optional and serves transparency. The platform never touches that money.
